Finding reliably warm, swim-worthy weather at Easter without jetting halfway around the globe? Not exactly easy. But we found it – in Malta. Along with it came a fascinating history, living traditions, and just the right balance of activity and relaxation.

















Festivals and holidays have always held a special place in my travels. And while Good Friday is observed around the world — and I’m no stranger to solemn processions from my own Catholic-rooted homeland — the Maltese have a very own way of marking a day that feels both more earnest and, somehow, more full of life.
